Deceased Name: Richard Wolfe Abram MN United States Richard Wolfe Abram, 78, of Branch Street, died, Wednesday
Oct. 27, 2004 in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born Dec. 18, 1925 in
Duluth to Isaac and Carolyn (Banov) Abram. Richard graduated from Duluth
Central High School in 1943 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1947. He
earned Eagle Scout, with Troop 43 in Duluth. He married Muriel Sadoff of
Chicago in 1950. Richard and Muriel were the Owner and Operators of women's
specialty stores, Bud's and Bud's Juniors from 1950 to 1987. He was the
president of Retail Advisory Group (a consulting firm) from 1987 to 1994.
Richard was a member and past president of Midwest Specialty Stores, Duluth
Lions Club and Duluth Retail Merchants Association. He was also a past
president of Boy Scout Troop 43 and Duluth Graduate Medical Center Program.
Richard was also active in his community serving as director/trustee for the
Duluth Symphony Association, St. Mary's Hospital, Duluth Chamber of Commerce,
Temple Israel of Duluth, Lake Superior Council Boy Scouts of America, Duluth
Fair Employment & Housing Commission, Duluth Vocational School Advisory
Board, the 11th district Minnesota Bar Association Professional Review
Council and was active as a counselor with SCORE (Service Corporation of
Retired Executives). He was a member of the Central H.S. class of '43 reunion
committee. Richard was the founder of Lake Superior Woodturners Association
and a member of American Association of Woodturners. His parents, Carolyn and
Isaac Abram; and his brother, William E. Abram preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Muriel Sadoff Abram; and sons,
William (Barbara) Abram of Ardsley, N.Y. and Lee (DeAnne) Abram of Boca
Raton, Fla.; and his daughter, Barbara Brandt (Jay Pitman) of Colo, Iowa; 11
grandchildren; and one great grandchild. FUNERAL SERVICE:12 noon Sunday in
Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd Street, Duluth, Minn. Burial at Temple Emmanuel
Cemetery. Please direct memorials to Temple Israel or the Duluth Lions Club.
